COOKIE CUTTER TOOL
The Cookie Cutter Tool will allow you to fill a selected shape with any image of your choice. Choose an image, (one of your designs or a photo) as in my example (Fig 1), and SAVE it to a different name so that you don’t lose the original when you alter it.
Click on the Cookie Cutter Tool (Fig 2) on the left hand tool bar, and choose a shape from the tools drop down menu. The small double arrow at the top right of the menu, will open up a list of shape categories. (Fig 3).
Click on the chosen shape. Place the cursor on the image where you want the shape to be and hold down the left click and drag the shape to the size you want. When you let go. you should be left with your shape. (Fig 4)
Click on the move tool and you should be a able to left click and drag the shape around the page, or use the up and down arrows on the keyboard.
To duplicate the shape, select it’s layer and click Ctrl J (Cmd J on a Mac), then left click and drag the copy away from the original underneath it. Note that the duplicate will have it’s own layer.
To make a background, Make a new layer (Layer -New Layer), left click and drag the new layer below the other layers in the layers panel (Fig 5). Choose a colour by clicking the foreground colour square (bottom left below tool bar). Click on the colour bar in the window that opens up and choose a colour. Highlight the blank layer in the layers panel and fill it using the Paint Bucket Tool.
In my rather ‘chocolate boxy’ example (Fig.6), I have added a shadow effect to the hearts from Drop Shadows (‘Effects’, top right hand corner above layers panel. Just left click and drag any of the effects to your shape). I have made a border shape from the same starter image using the Cookie Cutter Tool again.
